Romania now recognises cyber harassment as a form of domestic violence, under a new legal amendment. Domestic violence will now include a provision specifically for "cybernetic violence" which intends to "shame, humble, scare, threat, or silence the victim". This will include online threats or messages, or where a partner sends intimate graphic content without consent.

Germany's Constitutional Court has ruled that current police access to personal data from phone and internet users is unconstitutional. The suit, brought by over 6,000 plaintiffs, was filed in 2013 by the current European Pirate Party politician.

Citizenship of Shamima Begum was revoked by the Home Office on security grounds after she was found in a refugee camp in 2019. The Court of Appeal said she had been denied a fair hearing because she could not make her case from the Syrian camp.

The French government presented a draft law that would enable France to return certain cultural artifacts taken from African countries during the colonial era. The new legislation stipulates that these objects must be given back within one year from when the law goes into effect.

Italy will put the captain of an Italian-flagged vessel on trial for allegedly pushing back migrants to Libya. The vessel picked up 101 migrants in international waters in July 2018 and returned them to Libya's capital city Tripoli, which is not considered a safe port under international law.

Authorities in Baden-Württemberg have begun procedures to introduce a legal regulation to ban girls from wearing burkas and niqabs in school. Next steps will include a legal hearing and parliamentary debates before the amendment itself can be tabled in parliament for a reading.
