The Spanish Congress has agreed to consider a bill in favour of an individual's right to euthanasia. Under current legislation both assisted suicide and active euthanasia are punishable with up to six years in prison.

UK’s top court grants heterosexual couple right to civil partnership

Sweden approves new law recognising sex without consent as rape

The new law, due to come into effect on 1 July, says a person must give clear consent, verbal or physical. Prosecutors will no longer need to prove violence or that the victim was in a vulnerable situation in order to establish rape.

The European Parliament rejected the directive on copyright in the Internet
