Anna Fedoryak

Anna joined the EU-Russia Civil Society Forum in 2019. Prior to that, she supported quite a few Russian and EECA public health and human rights NGOs with communications and media relations. Anna holds a master’s degree in history and speaks English, French, Russian and Spanish. In 2017, she also was a European Parliament Sakharov Fellow. Anna is in charge of the Forum social media presence and the preparation of the monthly newsletter. She also edits the Legal Dialogue Journal.

EU to recommend end to changing clocks twice a year

The European commission will recommend that EU member states abandon the practice of changing the clocks in spring and autumn, with many people in favour of staying on summer time throughout the year. Jean-Claude Juncker, the commission’s president, said a recent consultation had shown that more than 80% of EU citizens were in favour of the move.

Pro-choice activists took to the streets of Verona to protest an anti-abortion conference attended by Interior Minister Matteo Salvini. His coalition partner Luigi Di Maio described anti-abortion rhetoric as medieval.

Stricter gun laws for Germany

Amnesty International considers Aleksandra Skochilenko a prisoner of conscience

Russian artist Aleksandra Skochilenko was arrested after being accused of replacing price tags with anti-war information in a supermarket. She is charged with «disseminating knowingly false information about the use of the Russian Armed Forces». She faces up to 10 years in prison if convicted.

Kremlin to hold referendums in captured Ukrainian territories to join Russia

The Kremlin wants to organise elections for the lands it has annexed from Ukraine to become part of Russia in September. The international community is likely to reject any referendum as illegal, just as it was with the vote in Crimea in 2014.
